Viticulture

View of sample vineyards from the Kloppberg tower

Stefan Winter has been managing his parents' winery on the Kloppberg (292 m) in Wonnegau, measuring 21 hectares, since 2000 . After internships and apprenticeships at the Klaus Keller (Rheinhessen) and Bassermann-Jordan (Palatinate) wineries, Winter graduated from SLVA Bad Kreuznach as a state-certified technician for viticulture and oenology and is a member of the “Message in a bottle” group, young winemakers and winemakers from Rheinhessen. The estate's vineyards are grouped around the town in the south of the Rheinhessen wine-growing region , which is in the inland area of the Rheinhessen hill country and not on the Rhine terrace.

The offer is based on the quality pyramid, which distinguishes between estate wines, local wines "Dittelsheimer" (individual layers "Pfaffenmütze" and "Mönchshube") and the single-vineyard wines "Leckerberg" and "Geyersberg", which are then also indicated as vineyard locations on the label . The southerly orientation of the north-west and south of Dittelsheim locations allows good solar radiation, they are located at the foot of the Kloppberg. Deep clay marl and very lime-rich rock soils characterize the wines.
