history

Weinsdorf, entrance to the village

Weinsdorf was mentioned in 1378 as "Wygandistorf". The Liebenhainer mill in the Weinsdorfer Flur on the Zschopau was mentioned in 1384 as "Libenheym". Liebenhain was at times considered a desert . The council of Mittweida exercised the manorial rule over Weinsdorf . Weinsdorf and the Liebenhain settlement initially belonged to the Freiberg district office in Saxony . Around 1606 they came to the Electoral Office of Rochlitz .

Until 1832, Weinsdorf and Liebenhain belonged to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz. In 1832, the two places as well as the city of Mittweida, under whose administration they were, separated from the Rochlitz office and placed under the Frankenberg-Sachsenburg office. The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Weinsdorf came under the administration of the Mittweida court office in 1856, and in 1875 under the newly established Rochlitz administration . In 1908, the Mittweidaer Industriebahn to Ringethal was built by Liebenhain, which was in operation until 1969. The suspension bridge from Liebenhain to Kockisch across the Zschopau was also built in 1908.

On July 1, 1950, Weinsdorf merged with Oberrossau and Niederrossau to form the municipality of Rossau, which was incorporated into the Hainichen district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ) through the second district reform in the GDR in 1952 . From 1990 this was continued as the Saxon district of Hainichen and in 1994 it was allocated to the newly formed district of Mittweida . Since 2008, the community of Rossau and its districts have been part of the newly formed district of central Saxony.
