Wenchao Li (philosopher)
Wenchao Li (* 1957 in Shaanxi , People's Republic of China ) is a philosopher , author and editor .
Life
Born in 1957 in the Chinese province of Shaanxi, Wenchao Li studied German, philosophy, linguistics and political science at the University of Northwest China in Xi'an and in Beijing at Peking University and in Germany at Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and finally at Freie University of Berlin (FU), where he wrote his dissertation in 1989 on the subject of the motif of childhood and the shape of the child in German literature at the turn of the century. Investigations into Thomas Mann's " Buddenbrooks ", Friedrich Huch's "Mao" and Emil Strauss' " Freund Hein " . He also completed his habilitation at Freie Universität in 1996 under the title The Christian Mission to China in the 17th Century. Understanding, incomprehension, misunderstanding. A study of the history of ideas on Christianity , Buddhism and Confucianism .
After ten years of research and teaching at universities in Stuttgart , Erlangen , Wolfenbuettel , Berlin (only at the city's Technical University Wenchao Li took over, most recently at the Berlin Free University) and at several universities in China in 2007, the head of the Potsdam Leibniz Edition place the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW), whereby he is responsible for the historical-critical edition of the political writings of the polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.
On July 1, 2010, Wenchao Li was appointed to the newly created Leibniz endowed professorship based in Hanover , which is limited to five years .
