Wendy is a fantasy drama by Benh Zeitlin that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 and is due to hit US cinemas on February 28, 2020. The film is a reinterpretation of the stories about Peter Pan .

Little Wendy and her brothers come from a warm family. The children have a weakness for adventure. One night the children are taken by a mysterious boy named Peter to an equally mysterious island where time seems to have stood still. There they discover a wild new world, one without adults. At first they enjoy their new life, but they cannot forget the world they left behind.

Directed by Benh Zeitlin . Zeitlin was awarded the Caméra d'Or in 2012 for his debut film Beasts of the Southern Wild , Quvenzhané Wallis was the youngest actress ever to be nominated for an Oscar for best leading actress in her role as the nature-loving “ Hushpuppy ” . The filmmaker wrote the script together with his sister Eliza Zeitlin .

Filming began in summer 2015. The film was shot on the island of Montserrat in the Caribbean, but also on Antigua and Barbuda .

The film music was composed by Dan Romer .

A first trailer was presented at the beginning of November 2019. The film premiered on January 26, 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled to hit US cinemas on February 28, 2020. A cinema release in Germany was planned for August 20, 2020.
