Wenzel Pilsak , from 1825 Pilsak Edler von Wellenau and Pilsak von Wellenau (* 1779 in Pokratitz, today a district of Leitmeritz , Bohemia ; † September 1, 1855 in Hietzing near Vienna , Austria ) was a kk major general .

biography

He came from a family of Slavic origin and was first mentioned in a document in Litmeritz in 1657 (see: Pilsak ). At the beginning of his military career, Pilsak attended the KuK Technical Military Academy in Vienna. In 1810, as an officer in the Bombardier Corps, he and his comrade Christian Maschner took a geometrical picture of the tower of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna , which he then converted into a drawing. This drawing was then etched in copper by the copper engraver Wilhelm Friedrich Schlotterbeck, who was very well known at the time .

As captain of the garrison - Artillery -Distrikts Vienna, he was in the Austrian on December 5, 1825 peerage with the title "Edler von Wellenau" levied.

As a captain he came to the fire rifle factory in Vienna (Währingergasse) as local director. In 1834 he was promoted to major in the 2nd Artillery Regiment . He still held this rank in 1840. Until 1848 he was chief director of the fire rifle factory in Vienna and Steyr , initially with the rank of lieutenant colonel , in 1848 as colonel of the artillery. On June 16, 1849, Pilsak was finally promoted to major general and on April 9, 1851 he retired.
