Werner Kümmerle

Werner Kümmerle (born April 7, 1939 in Augsburg ) is a former German table tennis player .

Career

Werner Kümmerle began his career in 1952 at TSV Schwaben Augsburg , moved to Post SV Augsburg in 1959 , with whose men's team he was promoted to the league in 1960 , and played at TTG Kempten from 1964. From 1972 he was active at TTC Remlingen and SC Fürstenfeldbruck (around 1982), where he still plays today (2012).

In 1959 he became Bavarian Junior Champion. In the same year he took part in the world championship , where he failed in singles in the qualifying round and defeated Vahaken Ohannessian / Marcel Barsoumian (Lebanon) in doubles with Alfred Großmann and then eliminated against Antoni Arbach / Waldemar Roslan (Poland). In 1962 he was nominated for the individual competitions of the European Championship in West Berlin. Here he failed in the first round in the singles against the Austrian Karl Troll and in doubles with Horst Thein against the Swiss Mario Mariotti / Lajos Antal.

In 1969 he won the Bavarian championship in doubles with Conny Freundorfer .

Private

Werner Kümmerle is a trained insurance salesman. He has been married since 1961.
