Werner Nothe (born January 31, 1938 in Wusterwitz ) is a former German politician ( SED ). Between 1989 and 1990 he was Lord Mayor of Magdeburg .

Life

Nothe put 1956 in Genthin the High School , and entered in the same year in the SED. Then he studied until 1960 at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg Jura and was subsequently Counsel in the economy. From 1978 Werner Nothe was the deputy mayor of Magdeburg responsible for church and emigrant issues. After the resignation of Werner Herzig and the provisional management of official business by Ernst Ullrich, he was elected Lord Mayor of Magdeburg on December 14, 1989 at an extraordinary meeting of the city council. He remained Lord Mayor of the city until Willi Polte was elected on May 31, 1990.

In December 1989, Nothe was a delegate at the SED's special party conference in East Berlin . Nevertheless, as Lord Mayor, on January 25, 1990, at the city round table , he called on the SED-PDS to immediately stop all political activities in the area of ​​Magdeburg. He advocated a self-dissolution of the party and resigned from the party.

From 1990 he worked as an independent lawyer and investment advisor. In 1992 he founded a company in the construction industry.
