Heinrich Leopold August von Blumenthal , since 1786 Count von Blumenthal (born September 14, 1765 in Potsdam , † November 7, 1830 in Neudeck ) was First Chamberlain of King Jérôme Bonaparte and Mayor of Magdeburg .

Life

origin

He was a member of the Brandenburg noble family von Blumenthal . He was the son and heir of Johann August Graf von Blumenthal (1722–1788) (he was raised to the rank of count on October 2, 1786). His mother was Ulrike Amalie, née Countess von Wartensleben (1741–1808).

Career

In 1786 he joined the Gensdarmes regiment in Berlin as a cornet and took his leave as a lieutenant on February 1, 1788 . He then devoted himself to the administration of his estates Betzendorf , Adamsdorf and Lieben. In 1790 he became royal Prussian and ducal Mecklenburg-Strelitzscher chamberlain. From July 15, 1795 he was canon of Magdeburg .

In the turmoil of the Napoleonic wars and through the abolition of subservience he suffered significant economic losses. In 1807 he was a deputy (for the Magdeburg prelates and knights) in the Estates deputation, which negotiated the Constitution of the Kingdom of Westphalia in Paris and Fontainebleau . After the formation of the Kingdom of Westphalia , he was mayor of Magdeburg from 1807 to June 30, 1808.

From June 2, 1808 to October 26, 1813 he was an elected member of the imperial estates of the Kingdom of Westphalia for the Elbe department in the landowner class .

In August 1809 he sold the goods (with a loan), acquired Gut Neudeck near Herzberg (Elster) and, for financial reasons, became First Chamberlain and Governor of Napoleonshöhe Castle .

He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and Knight of the Legion of Honor .

On September 26, 1788, Blumenthal married Friederike von Plessen auf Kleinvielen (1769–1848). The couple had several children:
