Werner Seldis

Werner Seldis (born November 15, 1914 in Maltsch ad Oder ; † April 3, 2011 in Munich ) was a German diplomat .

Life

After graduating from high school , Seldis completed a degree in economics at the University of Hamburg , where he completed his doctorate in 1936 with a dissertation on the topic of regulating global economic "production" by international cartels in the post-war period .

He later joined the foreign service and, in addition to working in the Foreign Office, was also employed at the embassies in Chad . After serving as legation councilor in the Foreign Office in Bonn , he succeeded Gerd Deyhle as ambassador in Sierra Leone in March 1964 . In 1968 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services .

Most recently he was appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Togo in 1976 as the successor to Hans Hermann Haferkamp . He held this post until his age-related retirement . His successor as the embassy in Lomé was then Johannes Reitberger . In this function, he signed an agreement with the Council of Ministers of the West African Monetary Union on financial cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany on December 22, 1978 ( Federal Law Gazette 1979 II p. 346 ) and on January 29, 1979 another agreement on financial cooperation with Togo ( BGBl. II p. 388 ).

After his death Werner Seldis was buried in the cemetery of the Dreieinigkeitskirche in Munich - Bogenhausen .
