Wesley Blake (born September 4, 1987 in San Marcos , Texas ) is an American wrestler . He is currently under contract with the WWE and appears regularly on their show SmackDown . His greatest success so far has been receiving the NXT Tag Team Championship .
Wrestling career
Funking Conservatory (2011-2013)
He became a student of Dory Funk Jr.'s wrestling school, the Funking Conservatory. In 2011, immediately after graduating from university, Weston moved to Ocala, Florida, where the Funking Conservatory was located. It has been documented that Weston has been wrestling there since May 2011. Weston became Funking Conservatory World Champion as well as European Champion and Florida Heavyweight Champion.
World Wrestling Entertainment (since 2013)
Weston signed with WWE in June 2013 and began training at the WWE Performance Center , as did his tag team partner Buddy Murphy . Weston made his television debut as Wesley Blake on the January 22, 2014 episode of NXT.
In August 2014, Blake gave up the cowboy character and tagged Buddy Murphy. For the remainder of 2014, Blake and Murphy lost multiple matches against teams like The Lucha Dragons and The Vaudevillains. On January 15, 2015, they won the NXT Tag Team Championship from The Lucha Dragons Kalisto and Sin Cara . The reign lasted 219 and finally lost the title to The Vaudevillains on August 22, 2015. The tag team split on May 18, 2016.
After a long absence from television, Blake returned on the May 10, 2017 NXT episode and confronted Drew McIntyre in a backstage segment. On the May 24, 2017 episode of NXT, where he went back to his previous cowboy gimmick, Blake lost the match to McIntyre. He then wasn't on TV for the remainder of 2017 and formed The Forgotten Sons tag team with Steve Cutler .
The team debuted on August 29, 2018 in the episode of NXT in a segment with general manager William Regal . Their in-ring debuts came the following week when Blake and Cutler defeated The Street Profits after a distraction from Shane Thorne .
Blake and Cutler represented the group in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2019. They made it to the finals, where they lost to Aleister Black and Ricochet .
In the SmackDown episode on April 10, 2020 Cutler made his debut on the main roster together with the Forgotten Sons and defeated the Lucha House Party Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado together with Steve Cutler . After defeating the then SmackDown Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and Big E , they secured a title match. However, they could not win the match for the title.
