background

In early 2013 the band released an EP with an unknown title on which the three songs What It Means to Be Defeated , Collision , Survive and Resurrect can be heard, all of which were later re-recorded for the album. On July 7, 2013, the signature took place with the US independent label InVogue Records . At the same time, Hollow Shell, the first song from the upcoming debut album, was released. A live music video for Collision.Survive was also released.

When the album was first pressed, producer Joey Sturgis , who mastered the album, took part . When the album was reprinted, which was released on November 24, 2014, the album was remastered by Tom Denney . Three days before the album was released, it was streamed in full on the website of the US music magazine Alternative Press .

Promotion and Success

In November and December 2013, the band toured the United States with Kingdom of Giants and Adestria for three weeks to promote the album. In April and May 2014 the band was on tour with Upon This Dawning and The Browning as part of the Artery Across The Nation Tour . In March and April 2015, the group will tour the States again with Courage My Love and Hawthorne Heights .

It is not known how often the first edition of the album sold. The new press, which has four acoustic pieces as bonus material, sold only 410 times within the first week of sales , according to the Metal by Numbers column .

Leslie Shirley from Volted Magazine praised the musical skills of all the musicians in the band throughout the length of the album and described the album as fantastic throughout. The album was also well received by Reviews from the Cave . The reviewer described the clearly sung parts as heavenly, but the screamed pieces got the full attention. The reviewer described the musical sound as fitting, both to the clean and to the screamed parts of the album, which was unexpected for the critics.

Punktastic's Hannah Park said that the dynamics of the entire album set the band apart from other post-hardcore bands today . She compares the group's music to bands like Bring Me the Horizon and Memphis May Fire . Park predicts that Dayseeker could become a big band on the scene in the near future, should they continue to create this kind of music. Sebastian Valks of the Dutch Smash Press attributed musical resemblance to groups like Northlane and Periphery to the group.

Shrum from New Noise Magazine describes that the tempo changes within the individual songs support Rory Rodriguez's vocals appropriately and thus come into their own. In the gutturally performed pieces, he equates the singing of Rodriguez with At the Skylines , while he describes the voice in clearly sung parts as soul- inspired. Cody Endres describes the album a little more calmly. He writes that the pieces are not considered embarrassing and praises the creativity that the musicians display.
