style

The style of music is described on the debut album What It Means to Be Defeated as a classic variant of post-hardcore , which combines soulful vocals and melodic instrumentals. The music of the group on the debut album What It Means to Be Defeated was compared with For Today and Beartooth . Musical similarities with Memphis May Fire , Periphery , Northlane and Bring Me the Horizon were also attested.

Most of the song lyrics are written by singer Rory Rodriguez and are mostly about the musicians' personal experiences. His lyrics are dark and depressed. On the second album Origin , the singer describes his father's Parkinson's disease ( A Cancer Uncontained ), his mother's alcohol addiction ( The Earth Will Turn ), as well as the experiences of a friend whose daughter was born dead ( Never See the Sun Rise ). The album Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising is a concept album that is about a man who is in a coma. Meanwhile his mother dies and his girlfriend separates from him. The song Vultures from the same album is about sexual abuse.
