Why Don't We (generally abbreviated as WDW ) is an American boy band (Manband), which consists of Zach Herron (19), Jack Avery (21), Daniel Seavey (21), Corbyn Besson (21) and Jonah Marais (22) consists. The band was formed in 2016, released a studio album and released six EPs with various artists, won the Choice Music Group Award at the Teen Choice Awards 2019 and was nominated twice for an MTV Video Music Award .

Career

2016-2017: EP publications

The band originally formed on September 27, 2016, after they all met in Los Angeles a year earlier . On October 7, 2016, the group released their debut single, Taking You , which later appeared on their debut EP Only the Beginning , which was released on November 25, 2016. In 2017 they started their first headlining tour, the Taking You Tour . Her second EP, Something Different , was released on April 21, 2017. After the release, they started the Something Different Tour , their second headlining tour. The group's third EP, Why Don't We Just , was released on June 2nd, 2017. In September 2017 the band signed a contract with Atlantic Records . That same month, Invitation , their fourth EP, was released. On November 23, 2017, they released their fifth EP, A Why Don't We Christmas . In 2018, in support of the Invitation EP , they started the Invitation Tour . In addition, the band has appeared in several vlogs and videos from YouTuber Logan Paul . Paul has made three music videos for the band, one of them with the Help Me Help You collaboration .

2018 - today: 8 letters and the upcoming second studio album

On August 31, 2018, Why Don't We released their first album, 8 Letters . In March 2019 the band members started the 8 Letters Tour , which took them around the world. For the rest of 2019, they released a new song every month. The five artists are currently working on their second studio album, which will be released in 2020.

Musical inspirations

The band named Justin Bieber as their main musical inspiration, alongside Ed Sheeran and Jaden Smith .

Jack Avery

Jack Robert Avery (born July 1, 1999) was born in Burbank , California and grew up in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania . Avery released a solo single called Liar in 2016 and was part of the Impact meet-and-greet tour , which also featured Zach Herron and Corbyn Besson. He also starred in the short film Fearless Five . On April 22, 2019, Avery's friend Gabriela Gonzalez gave birth to their daughter Lavender May Avery.

Corbyn Besson

Corbyn Matthew Besson (born November 25, 1998) was born in Dallas , Texas and grew up in Virginia . Besson's cousins ​​are the Dutch girl group O'G3NE . Before founding Why Don't We, he had an account with YouNow and released a solo single there in 2014 called The Only One . Besson is in a relationship with YouTuber Christina Marie. Besson was also part of the Impact Tour along with Zach Herron and Jack Avery .

Zach Herron

Zachary Dean Herron (born May 27, 2001), the youngest member of the group, grew up in Dallas , Texas . As a child he sang in a choir. Before Why Don't We, Herron published covers on YouTube, and his stitches by Shawn Mendes went viral.

Jonah Marais

Jonah Marais Roth Frantzich (born June 16, 1998), the oldest member of the group, grew up in Stillwater , Minnesota . He also had an account with YouNow in previous years. He also released an album, When the Daylight's Gone , in 2016 and went on the DigiTour in 2014.

Daniel Seavey

Daniel James Seavey (born April 2, 1999) grew up in Vancouver , Washington . He plays over 20 instruments by ear. As a child, his father took him to Portland , Oregon to street music. In 2015, Seavey competed in American Idol's 14th season and finished ninth. He achieved this at the age of 15, making him the youngest finalist of the season.
