Jaden Smith (2018)

Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born July 8, 1998 in Malibu , California , according to other sources in Los Angeles ) is an American actor , rapper , fashion designer and model . He was best known for his role as Christopher in The Pursuit of Happiness , in which he played alongside his father Will Smith , and for Dre Parker in The Karate Kid . In 2016 Jaden Smith became the new face of the spring / summer campaign of the French fashion house Louis Vuitton and in November 2017 he released his debut album Syre .

life and career

Jaden Smith was in July 1998 in Los Angeles in the state of US California , the son of actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith born. He is the brother of the singer Willow Smith and half-brother of Trey Smith. He received home schooling , but also attended the New Village Leadership Academy in Calabasas , which his parents co-founded.

From 2015 to 2017, Jaden Smith was in a relationship with model Sarah Snyder.

Acting career

His acting debut he gave in the UPN - sitcom All of Us , where he the role of the six episodes Reggie took over. He previously made a brief cameo with his half-brother Trey in the movie Men in Black II . In 2006 he was seen in the film The Pursuit of Happiness at the side of his father, where both also played father and son. In Harald Zwart's martial arts film Karate Kid , he played one of the leading roles alongside Jackie Chan . For that he won in 2011 the Young Artist Award in the category Best Actor in a Motion Picture . In 2013 he starred as Kitai Raige in the science fiction film After Earth alongside his father. Here, too, both father and son played. For his performance in this film, he was awarded the Golden Raspberry in the worst actor category in 2014. He and his father received another award in the worst screen couple category .

In 2015, filming began on the Netflix series The Get Down . In the 1970s hip-hop drama by Baz Luhrmann and Shawn Ryan , Jaden Smith plays Marcus "Dizzee" Kipling , an enigmatic 18-year-old graffiti artist from the South Bronx . The first episode aired in 2016. The series was discontinued after the first season.

Music career

As early as 2010, Jaden Smith was involved in the soundtrack of the film Karate Kid . This was followed by other singles by Justin Bieber , in which Jaden Smith was also involved. In 2012 Jaden started uploading his first singles on his YouTube channel Official Jaden's Channel and published his first mixtape The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape Vol. 1 that same year .

The sequel followed in 2014 with the mixtape Cool Tape Vol. 2 . Just weeks before it was released, he released his first EP Prakruti , which was created in collaboration with Mateo Arias, who uses the alias Téo . The EP This Is The Album , which was released in 2015, and the singles published in advance are shaped by the influences of his friends from the MSFTS movement and were created in collaboration with Willow Smith and the artists Téo , Daniel, who are mainly represented on the SoundCloud music platform D'artiste , itndylAn and AzZi .

In mid-November 2017, Smith released his first studio album, Syre . In mid-December 2017, he announced his second studio album, Erys, for 2018. He is a big fan of the hip-hop boy band Brockhampton and, in addition to joint appearances, had a feature on their album Iridescence .

MSFTSrep

From 2012, the creative MSFTS movement developed around Jaden Smith . Initially limited to a small group of friends, at the end of 2014 it mainly attracted attention from young people around the world. The core of the collective are Jaden Smith, Willow Smith , Moises Arias , Mateo Arias, Daniel D'artiste and his brother Dylan, who produce short films and music videos as well as artistic photography . Jaden Smith also tries his hand at being a fashion designer for her own MSFTSrep clothing line. MSFTS stands for the English word misfits , which in German means outsider or simply unadjusted . The abbreviation rep stands for Republic or Republic . On the MSFTSrep official website where they present their work, they explain:

Jaden Smith published a video on the video platform YouTube in which he tries to explain the thinking behind MSFTSrep.
