Wiesław Szlachetka (born November 21, 1959 in Mała Komorza , Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship , Poland ) is a Polish clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Gdansk .
Life
Wiesław Szlachetka entered the seminary in Pelplin in 1980 and received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Kulm on May 17, 1986 . From 1988 to 1992 he studied Biblical Theology at the Theological Academy in Warsaw , where he also received his doctorate theologiae in 1997 .
On March 25, 1992 he was incardinated in the diocese of Danzig . From 1986 to 2000 he worked as a pastor in the Salvator Parish in Gdansk - Osowa . Since 1992 he has also taught at the seminary in Gdansk. From 2000 to 2013 he was pastor of the parish of St. Polycarp in Gdansk-Osowa.
On 21 December 2013 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Vageata and auxiliary bishop in Gdansk. He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore , on January 4th of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Danzig, Sławoj Leszek Głódź , and the retired Archbishop of Gniezno , Henryk Józef Muszyński .
