Why , in Upper Sorbian Brěznja ? / i , has been a district of Kamenz since its incorporation in 1974 . It is located in the southern part of the city on the Black Elster in the Bautzen district and is part of the official Sorbian settlement area in Upper Lusatia . Audio file / audio sample

Wiesa train station

Wiesa is affected by the state road 102 Kamenz – Bautzen and the road Kamenz – Bischofswerda crosses. The now closed Kamenz – Bischofswerda railway also crossed Wiesa and had a stop at Wiesa train station. Since the demolition of a railway bridge between Wiesa and Kamenz, it can no longer be used.

history

Wiesa was founded in 1238. As in many other rural communities, the main employer of the residents was agriculture. In addition to agriculture, several quarries were established in the 19th century , in which the existing granite deposits were mined. In 1974 Wiesa was incorporated into the neighboring town of Kamenz.

Type of settlement

Wiesa is a Waldhufendorf with an all-terrain floor . The central axis of the village is the Black Elster. The parcels spread in a south-easterly direction below the Heidelberg and in a north-westerly direction.
