Schönbach is a district of the town of Kamenz in the Saxon district of Bautzen . The place is northwest of the core town of Kamenz on the S 93 . The B 97 runs north .

history

The street village Schönbach was first mentioned in 1225 as Sconenbach . The place has been known by its current name since 1791, at times also with the addition of Kamenz . Historically, the place was under the rule of the Marienstern Monastery . In 1777 the population of Schönbach consisted of three possessed men as well as ten gardener and ten housekeeper families.

On March 1, 1994, Schönbach merged with Biehla , Brauna , Cunnersdorf and Hausdorf to form the community of Schönteichen . Since the dissolution of this community on January 1, 2019, the place has belonged to the city of Kamenz.
