Zschornau-Schiedel ( Upper Sorbian Čornow-Křidoł ) is a former municipality in the Bautzen district , now part of the town of Kamenz . The district of Zschornau is located northeast of Kamenz on the S 95 adjacent to Kamenz Airport. In 1990 there were 327 inhabitants in the community of Zschornau-Schiedel. In 1999 the rural community was incorporated into the city of Kamenz.

history

The forms of place names changed over time. Tschorne (1225) became Czornaw (1419) and later Zornaw (1572). The current name Zschornau has been used since 1875. The place name of Schiedel changed from Schildowe (1225), Schedelawe (1472), Schidlo (1542), 1866 Zschiedel (1866) to Schiedel (1875).

The rural community of Zschornau-Schiedel was founded on July 1, 1965 from Zschornau and Schiedel . There are only a few traces of the former Sorbian roots. Zschornau-Schiedel has been part of the town of Kamenz since January 1st, 1999.
