The Wikinger-Linie ("Wikinger Linie - Frankfurter Fahrgastschiffahrt Adolf-Ulfried Nauheimer") was an inland shipping company based in Frankfurt am Main , which operated its passenger ships on the Main , Rhine and Neckar and existed from 1976 to 1998.

history

The Nauheimer family had been operating shipping services in and around Frankfurt am Main since 1880, when Peter Nauheimer bought his first ship, the paddle steamer Frankfurt . In the course of the following decades the family operated shipping and worked together with the Flettner family in the shipping association “Flettner-Nauheimer” from around the 1920s to 1959. After the Rheingold was burned in a shipyard, the three Nauheimers and the three sons of the Flettner family sold their ships to the Cologne-Düsseldorf Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt .

Subsequently, Adolf Nauheimer operated with the Wikinger until 1981 and his cousin, Hans Nauheimer with the Vaterland until 1991, of their own in Frankfurt. In 1974 Anton Nauheimer started their own business with the Primus and in 1976 Adolf-Ulfrid Nauheimer with the ship Wikinger 2 .

The founding and company history of his “Viking Line”, named after the ship, is still to be worked on. The shipping company was based on the Mainkai directly on the Eiserner Steg - in the same building as the Primus line of his great cousin Anton Nauheimer.

As of spring 1996, the following transports and routes were being served: The shipping company's ships were in regular service from Easter to mid-October and in December. On-demand transport could be rented all year round. The shipping company's program included special trips from Frankfurt to Mainz , Nierstein , Rüdesheim , Bacharach , St. Goar / Loreley , Boppard , Miltenberg , Heidelberg and Koblenz . In addition, the ships were used or offered for special events such as wine tastings, exhibitions, sales fairs, music rides, dance rides, Mainfest rides, Rhine in Flames, winter fairy tale tours, New Year's eve cruises, special programs for company and club outings and family celebrations.

fate

Since Adolf-Ulfrid Nauheimer did not have a successor, he sold the Wikinger-Linie in July 1998 to his great cousin Anton Nauheimer - the shipowner of the Primus-Linie. Together with the shipping company, the Primus-Linie took over the two active ships Wikinger 1 (2) and Wappen von Frankfurt , both of which still belong to the active fleet of the Primus-Linie.
