Wilhelm Benedict Sigismund Heinrich Bode (born November 17, 1812 in Helmstedt , † October 24, 1883 in Braunschweig ) was a German judge and politician . He sat in the Reichstag (North German Confederation) .

Career

Bode attended the Martino-Katharineum Braunschweig and studied law in Braunschweig in 1829/30 , at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1831/32 and from 1832 to 1834 at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In 1832 he became active in the Corps Brunsviga Göttingen . After graduating, he worked as a lawyer and later switched to the administrative service of the Duchy of Braunschweig . After he had been administrator of the office of Calvörde and the office of Harzburg , he was appointed district judge in Braunschweig in 1858. 1867 became the director of the new commercial court in Braunschweig. After all, from 1879 to 1882 he was a senior judge at the Braunschweig Higher Regional Court . On January 1, 1883, he retired.

His son Wilhelm von Bode became a world-famous art historian and museum founder. The Bode Museum in Berlin commemorates him .

Church and Politics

From 1867 to 1883 he was a deputy, in 1880 vice-president and in 1882 until his death president of the regional synod of Braunschweig .

From 1861 to 1868 was a city ​​councilor in Braunschweig. From 1861 to 1883 he was a member of the state assembly of Braunschweig and temporarily its vice-president.

Bode sat in the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation in 1867 for constituency 1 Braunschweig and the National Liberal Party . In the 1st, 3rd and 4th electoral periods of the Reichstag (German Empire (1871–1874, 1877–1881) Bode represented Braunschweig constituency 1. There he belonged to the faction of the National Liberals.
