Wilhelm Kroeger

Wilhelm Kröger (born January 23, 1873 in Bentwisch ; † October 13, 1932 in Rostock ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician.

Kroger was a joiner . In 1891 he joined the SPD and the free trade unions . At times he was a shop steward at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock. Between 1900 and 1905 he was an honorary Gauleiter of the wood processing association and chairman of the association in Rostock. From then until his death Kröger was district party secretary of the SPD for Mecklenburg-Lübeck. At the same time he was chairman of the SPD at the state or district level.

Between 1911 and 1920 he was a city councilor and between 1918 and 1920 he was an unpaid senator and deputy mayor of Rostock. Since 1913 Kröger was also a partner and temporarily chairman of the press committee for the "Mecklenburg People's Newspaper".

Between 1919 and 1920 Kröger was President of the State Constituent Assembly for Mecklenburg-Schwerin . At the same time he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was also a member of the Weimar National Assembly and then of the Reichstag until his death .

Between 1920 and 1932 Kröger was a member of the central SPD party committee. He was also a member of the district committee of the SAJ and the Reich Committee of the Reich Banner Black-Red-Gold . In addition, he was chairman of the district committee of workers' welfare .
