Wilhelm Lanz
Wilhelm Lanz (born June 4, 1829 in Oberlahnstein ; † May 7, 1882 in Neesbach ) was the first mayor of Wiesbaden from 1868 to 1882 .
Life
Lanz was the son of the medical councilor Dr. med. Johann Lanz (1800–1848) and his wife Johannette, b. Henn. He attended grammar school Philippinum in Weilburg from 1843 to 1847 , studied law at the University of Heidelberg from 1847 to 1851 , where he and his later successor as First Mayor of Wiesbaden Christian Schlichter became a member of the Corps Nassovia Heidelberg and in 1849 he was the founder of the today still existing one Corps Rhenania Heidelberg was. In 1854 he entered the Nassau judicial service. After working as a military auditor and government assessor, he was appointed First Mayor of Wiesbaden in 1868. Lanz died of a stroke on the way to a relative's funeral. He was buried in the old cemetery in Wiesbaden .
