Karl Wilhelm Otto Meyder (born November 14, 1841 in Oberdorf am Ipf , † January 29, 1927 in Hall ) was a German administrative actuary , mayor and politician ( DP ).

Life

Meyder's parents were the Oberdorf schoolmaster Georg Leonhardt Meyder and Karolina Henrietta Amalia Käfer. He did an apprenticeship as a clerk and notary and then joined the Württemberg military in 1862 , where he served in the mounted bodyguard and in the "Queen Olga" dragoon regiment . He took part in the German War of 1866 and in the Franco-German War from 1870–1871 .

In 1875 Meyer was elected mayor of Eschenau , where he founded the local loan office in 1881 .

In the state elections on January 9, 1889, Meyder ran for the Chamber of Deputies of the Württemberg Land estates in the Weinsberg constituency . His opponent was the non-party tenant of the Breitenauer Hof , Christian Hege . Meyder won with 2,060 of 3,643 votes. The election was contested from January 25th to 28th by three groups of people (18 signatories from Weinsberg , 24 signatories from Affaltrach and "a large number of signatories from multiple locations in the electoral district") because of irregularities. It was criticized that Meyder's preprinted ballot papers were twice as big as those of Hege and were also made of bluish-white paper, so that in the election without envelopes for the election supervisor it was immediately apparent who was voting for which candidate. Many voters therefore would not have dared to vote for Hege, since several electoral boards, such as Weinsberg's city school leader Carl Seufferheld and some local officials, had emphatically supported the candidate Meyder before the election. "Given the great dependence of many voters on the local councilors, a lot of voters would have preferred to vote according to the will of the latter." The election challenge was rejected by the Chamber of Deputies' committee on January 30th. Another submission by five citizens of Unterheinriet , who complained about further irregularities on February 9, was rejected by the legitimation commission on May 8, so that Meyder was elected. Until the next election in 1895 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies and belonged to various commissions.

In June 1893, Meyder resigned his mayor's office in Eschenau and went to Stuttgart as director of the agricultural cooperative central bank (later cooperative central bank , forerunner of today's DZ Bank ) .

family

In 1871 he married Magdalena Lisetta Friederike Schwarz (1845–1913). The marriage had six children, three of whom died early.
