There were Hugo Crola , Peter Janssen the Elder and especially the portrait painter Julius Roeting his teachers. In 1894 he made his debut in his first exhibition, which took place in the Düsseldorf gallery Schulte . Through portraits of fellow artists, Schneider-Didam soon gained a reputation as a painter of excellent portraits of men. Until his death he lived in Düsseldorf, where he was a member of the artists 'association Laetitia and the artists' association Malkasten . Together with Eugen Kampf , he ran a private ladies' painting school , which was initially located at Jacobistraße 14a, at the beginning of the 20th century in the so-called Hunger Tower opposite the art academy. Sibylle Ascheberg von Bamberg , Gertrud Friedersdorf (* 1882), Alice Jacobs (* 1879) and Paula Baruch , later the wife of Paul Häberlin , were among his students.
