Wilhelm Weissgärber

Wilhelm Weißgärber (born August 5, 1925 in Brigidau / Wartheland , † 2015 in Berlin ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . He was chairman of the DBD district committee in Berlin and a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

The son of a small farmer completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1939 to 1942 after attending primary school. In 1943 he became a member of the NSDAP .

From 1946 to 1951 he worked in his parents' farm in Schönhausen . His parents had received the land after the resettlement of the former Bismarck property through the land reform. In 1949 he became a member of the DBD and was chairman of the DBD local group and community representative in Schönhausen in 1949/50. 1950/51 he was a member of the Genthin District Council and in 1951 City Councilor for Agriculture in Genthin. In 1951 he became a member of the FDGB . 1951/52 he worked for the state government of Saxony-Anhalt in Halle .

From 1952 to 1959 he was secretary of the DBD district association Magdeburg and from June 1959 to 1962 deputy chairman for agriculture of the council of the district of Magdeburg (successor to Werner Müller ). At the same time he was a member of the Magdeburg District Assembly from 1952 to 1968.

From 1962 to 1963 he attended the institute for the training of functionaries for socialist agriculture in Schwerin, where he graduated as a state-certified farmer. From 1963 to May 1968 he was the first deputy chairman of the Agriculture Council and Council for Agriculture and Food Management in the Magdeburg district.

From 1968 to 1990 he was a member of the DBD party executive. From 1968 to 1982 he was a member of the presidium and from 1968 to 1990 secretary of the party executive committee. Since 1969 he was a member of the National Council of the National Front of the GDR. From August 1971 to November 1988 he was chairman of the DBD district committee in Berlin. On February 14, 1972, he and Konrad Naumann were elected to the Berlin District Committee of the National Front. From 1982 to 1990 he was chairman of the DBD court of arbitration.

From November 1971 to March 1990 he was a member of the DBD parliamentary group in the People's Chamber. From 1971 to 1979 he worked in the Committee for Trade and Supply and from 1980 as 1st Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Citizens' Submissions. From November 1971 to 1990 he was also a member of the city council of Berlin.

On November 22nd, 1989 he was elected deputy chairman of the People's Chamber Committee to review cases of abuse of office, corruption, personal gain and other acts.

Weißgärber lived in Berlin and died at the age of 89.
