Erwin Koerber

Erwin Körber (born June 15, 1921 in Ratibor ; † October 10, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . He was chairman of the DBD district board in Berlin and a long-time member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Körber, son of a railroad employee. attended the elementary school in Kudoba and Groschowitz as well as the advanced school with Abitur in Brieg . In 1941, after completing his Abitur, he was drafted into the army for military service. Körber was taken prisoner by the Soviets and was sent to the Antifa school in the village of Talizy for eight months .

After returning to Germany, he first became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and in 1949 a member of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD), in 1950 of the Free German Trade Union Federation and the Society for German-Soviet Friendship . From 1951 to 1952 he was a member and vice-president of the Thuringian state parliament . After the dissolution of the federal states, he was a member of the Suhl district assembly from 1952 to 1954 and was a deputy chairman of its Standing Commission for Police and Justice. In 1953 he became a member of the secretariat and head of the main organization department in the DBD party executive committee.

From 1954 to 1986 Körber was a member of the People's Chamber. Here he was a member of the DBD parliamentary group from 1954 to 1958 in the Committee for Popular Education and Culture, from 1958 to 1963 in the Budget and Finance Committee and since 1963 in the Committee for Industry, Construction and Transport.

From 1955 to 1972 he was a member of the party executive committee of the DBD and from 1955 to 1968 of its presidium. From 1960 to 1961 he attended the agricultural college in Oranienburg- Luisenhof and qualified as a state-certified farmer. From January 12, 1963 to 1971 he was chairman of the DBD district association in Berlin. In 1963 he became a city councilor of Berlin and a member of the district agriculture council and the council for agriculture and food industry (RLN). He studied philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1963 to 1969 as a graduate philosopher.

In 1971/72, Körber was a city councilor in the Berlin magistrate. Until 1975 he worked full-time for the DBD, then was only a simple member of the DBD district board in Berlin.

Since 1972 he has been chairman of the BSG Empor Berlin-Pankow , since 1974 a member of the Berlin-Pankow district board of the German Gymnastics and Sports Federation . From 1975 to 1978 he was a member of the Berlin District Committee and Deputy District Secretary of People's Solidarity . From 1978 to 1980 he was a research assistant and since 1980 office manager at the general director of the "Central Business Association for Fruit, Vegetables, Table Potatoes" in Berlin.

Körber died at the age of 82.
