Willfried Gredler

Willfried Gredler (born as Wilfried Gredler-Oxenbauer December 12, 1916 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; died November 18, 1994 there ) was an Austrian diplomat and politician ( FPÖ ).

Life

Willfried Gredler's father Richard Oxenbauer adopted the family name Gredler-Oxenbauer in 1913. His mother, Berta Kiticsan, came from an officer's family and the marriage was divorced in 1923.

Gredler studied at the University of World Trade and attended the Consular Academy (Dr. iur.). From November 1936 he was a member of the Austrian NSDAP and the SA . After the annexation of Austria , he became a member of the NSDAP in May 1938. In July 1939 he entered the judicial service, in May 1940 he became a soldier. Gredler was hired in September 1942 as a clerk for German issues at the Foreign Office and was employed in occupied Belgrade in the second half of 1943 .

After the Second World War, Gredler initially belonged to the ÖVP and, together with Ernst Strachwitz, was a leader in the “Young Front” and then in the campaign for political renewal that cooperated with the Association of Independents . From 1953 to 1963 he was a member of the National Council and from 1956 to 1963 club chairman of the FPÖ. From 1960 he was a member of the Austrian delegation to the Advisory Assembly of the Council of Europe. From 1963 to 1970 he was Austria's representative at the Council of Europe , and from 1970 to 1980 Ambassador in Bonn and Beijing .

Gredler ran for the federal presidential election in 1980 and received 17% of the vote.
