Willi Demski
Willi Demski (born February 12, 1929 in Oberhausen ; † October 2012 ) was a German football player who was active in the top division of SV Sodingen and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the 1950s .
Career
In his youth, Willi “Willa” Demski played at VfR 08 Oberhausen . After a stopover at the Turnerbund Oberhausen, the striker came to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , where he prevailed as a regular player in his first season in 1951/52 in the first team. In 32 games in the Second League West , he scored 17 goals and was RWO's top scorer. After this season he moved to the league promoted SV Sodingen . With the miners' association from Herne under coach Ludwig Tretter , he reached second place in the 1954/55 season and qualified for the final round of the German championship . In this he scored three goals in seven games.
Then Demski played for a season at FK Pirmasens in the Oberliga Südwest before returning to his homeland. At Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, he contributed 18 goals in 28 league games to the fact that coach Werner Stahl's team rose to the league at the end of the 1956/57 season . After the winter break in 1957/58 he broke his leg in the game against Wuppertaler SV after a collision with Horst Szymaniak , so that he was out for the rest of the season. In the top division, he completed next to teammates such as the brothers Kalli and Friedel Feldkamp or Fredi Lauten until 1961, 86 league games in which he scored 26 more goals. Under the Hungarian coach Nandor Lengyel , the young Hans Siemensmeyer replaced him in his last season in his position in the storm , to the astonishment even of the club's management. Siemensmeyer later recalled: “I, the youngest player, was the reason that a monument fell from its pedestal.” Demski was deported to the second team for the 1961/62 season.
After his active career, Demski ran a gas station in Oberhausen.
National team
Only once was Demski called to a match in a black and white dress. On March 23, 1955, the Sodinger played with the B national team in Sheffield against England. The German team reached a 1-1 draw; the goal for the DFB selection achieved the Fortune Erich Juskowiak , who, like Demski, came from the youth of VfR 08 Oberhausen and with whom he had played together at RWO in the 1951/52 season.
