William Brewster Medal

The William Brewster Medal is awarded annually by the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) to authors or co-authors who have published an exceptional work on birds of the Western Hemisphere . The award consists of a medal and honorary salary . It is funded by the William Brewster Memorial Foundation of the AOU and awarded by his friends in honor of the AOU founding member William Brewster (1851-1919). The first prize winners were awarded $ 7,250. The medal was awarded every two years from 1921 to 1937 and annually from 1938 onwards.
