William Dunne

William Dunne SPS (born June 6, 1920 in Delvin ; † March 31, 2002 ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Kitui in Kenya .

Life

William Dunne joined the religious order of St. Patrick's Society for Foreign Missions and was ordained a priest on December 18, 1944 . Pius XII. appointed him on October 19, 1956 as Apostolic Prefect of Kitui. Paul VI raised the Apostolic Prefecture to a diocese on November 16, 1963 and appointed him Bishop of Kitui.

He was ordained episcopal on February 9 of the next year by the Bishop of Meath , John Anthony Kyne ; Co- consecrators were Cornelius Lucey , Bishop of Cork and Ross , and Vincent Hanly , Bishop of Elphin .

He participated in the second to fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . On November 2, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
