William Ferrari
William Ferrari (* 21st April 1901 ; † 10. September 1962 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and Designer , the 1945 one Oscar for Best Production Design and in 1956 an Emmy for best art direction in a television series won.
Life
Ferrari began his career as art director and production designer in the Hollywood film industry in 1942 with the film The Vanishing Virginian and worked on the staging of nearly sixty films and television series until his death.
At the Academy Awards in 1945 , he and Cedric Gibbons , Edwin B. Willis and Paul Huldschinsky won the Oscar for best production design in the black and white film The House of Lady Alquist (1944) by George Cukor with Ingrid Bergman , Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotten in the leading roles . He also won an Emmy for Best Art Direction in 1953 for the TV series You Are There produced by the CBS .
At the 1964 Academy Awards , he was posthumously nominated alongside George W. Davis , Addison Hehr , Henry Grace , Don Greenwood Jr. and Jack Mills for another Oscar for best production design, namely for the color film That Was the Wild West (1962), one Joint directing work by John Ford , Henry Hathaway , George Marshall and Richard Thorpe with James Stewart , John Wayne and Gregory Peck and another star cast.
