William Giraldi

William Giraldi (born May 11, 1974 in Connecticut ) is an American critic , essayist and writer .

Life

Giraldi made his debut as a novelist with Busy Monsters in 2011 , was a finalist in the National Magazine Awards in the Essays and Reviews category for his article The Physics of Speed in the same year and received the Pushcart Prize for his essay Freaky Beasts . In 2015 Giraldi's novel Wolfsnächte (in the original Hold the Dark ) was published. It is Giraldi's first book to be published in German. In September 2015 it was announced that Jeremy Saulnier had directed a cinematic adaptation of the novel. Giraldi's novel The Hero's Body is due to appear in September .

Giraldi currently works as an editor for the political magazine The New Republic and as senior editor and senior fiction editor for the literary magazine AGNI at Boston University , where he also teaches. Giraldi also writes regular reviews for The New York Times Book Review .

Giraldi lives in Boston with his wife and three sons .
