William H. Reynolds

William Henry Reynolds (born June 14, 1910 in Elmira , New York , † July 16, 1997 in South Pasadena , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

His first film as editor, 52nd Street , dates back to 1937.

In his long career he has worked with a wide variety of directors, including Francis Ford Coppola , Roman Polański and several times with Robert Wise .

In 1967 he received an Oscar nomination for his film editing of Gunboat on the Yangtze River . For Der Clou (1973) he received his second Oscar for Best Editing after My Songs - My Dreams (1965) . In total, he was nominated for the trophy seven times. He also won the Eddie Award, presented by the American Cinema Editors , three times . In 1991 he received the Organization's Career Achievement Award .

In the 1980 Western Heaven's Gate , he was not only an editor but also an executive producer.
