The Winterlauter is a creek almost six kilometers in length in northern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the "Spiegelberger" Lauter from the right at Bernhalden , which belongs to Oppenweiler .

geography

course

The Winterlauter rises a little northwest of the village Spiegelberg -Nassach in the Wiesentalmulde of the Starkenäcker at about 462  m and flows, surrounded by a tree gallery, which soon widens to a forest that fills the valley and climbs up its slopes, initially to the south. He passes Nassach, which is a few hundred meters above sea level on his left, and takes in a short stream from its side, which flows towards him through the goose blade from the center of the village. Less than two hundred meters later, it takes up another short stream, again from the left, and then immediately crosses under the L 1117, which descends into the valley here to follow the stream on its entire remaining course at a distance of a few dozen meters to the left. The water is now turning more and more to the east, becoming the boundary of the municipality of Aspach , which is stepping on its left bank, taking in the Sauerwiesenbach from the left and then the Wolfsklinge creek at the Warthof . After the inflow of the Warthofklingenbach from the right, from which the municipality of Oppenweiler replaces Aspach as the right neighbor, the Fuchsfallenbach flows towards it from the left. A castle formerly stood on the mountain spur in the corner of the mouth. From now on the Winterlauter flows continuously eastwards. It receives its largest tributary from the left, the Nassachbach, on whose right dump the whetstone tunnels are located just before the mouth . After that, its longest right tributary flows, the Wolfsklingenbach, soon the municipality boundary of Oppenweiler crosses the water, then for the first time an open corridor appears in its floodplain, it reaches the hamlet of Oppenweiler-Bernhalden and flows here at about 292  m after about 5.8 km of water from the right into the "Spiegelberger" Lauter .

The Winterlauter shows an almost linear gradient curve with almost 3% gradient, which is noticeably below that of the competing streams in the west and south. From its turn to the east it often runs deep in a channel between steep embankments. The floodplain remains so narrow that the northern foot of the slope often had to be dug up to create the accompanying road.

Catchment area

The Winterlauter has a catchment area of around 10 km². In a clockwise direction it borders on that of the Lauter tributary Senzenbach in the north, the Lauter in the east, the Lauter tributary Marderbächle in the southeast, that of the Murr tributaries Rohrbach (mouth in Oppenweiler), Klöpferbach , Wüstenbach and Bottwar in the southeast, south, Southwest and west. In the north of the catchment area are the high peaks of the Juxkopf ( 533  m ) and the wide, flat, arable Neubruchs ( 537  m ), from which corridors extend south to the upper edge of the slope of the Winterlautern Valley. In the west, the watershed closely follows the right edge of the Winterlautertal, which is oriented to the south; in the south it runs, at a distance of usually not a kilometer from the stream, over the 516  m high forest crest of the Amalienberg, south of the Warthof along the elevated road over a plateau of over 500  m height and finally through the Brenntenhau (highest point 500  m ) towards its mouth. With the exception of the corridors mentioned, almost the entire catchment area of the Winterlauter is forested.

Tributaries

Hierarchical list of tributaries. Water body name or designation, direction of inflow, place of inflow and length of all bodies of water in the Winterlauter system. Tributaries are listed indented below the receiving water, from the source to the mouth. Only fully italicized names appear in the same way in the sources, otherwise identifying terms that can also be used in italicized the name of the source. Length always rounded to a full hundred meters, measured anywhere on the TK25 unless otherwise noted.
