The Juxkopfturm is a 22 m high observation tower in the natural area of ​​the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . It is located in the Rems-Murr district of Baden-Württemberg in the Spiegelberg district of Jux on the Juxkopf ( 533.1  m above sea  level ). This lower Jura dome is the second highest point in the Löwenstein Mountains .

history

The tower is already the third building at this point: The first previous building was built in 1882. It was demolished in 1902 due to dilapidation and replaced by a new tower. Today's tower was built in 1932 as a closed timber construction on a concrete foundation. Until 2008 he was looked after by the local group Besigheim of the Swabian Alb Association; since then he has been in the care of the local group Juxkopf.

In 1936, the spartan Juxkopfhütte hiking home with 20 beds was built next to the tower; today the hiking home is open from April to October on Sundays and public holidays.

Opportunities for viewing

The platform of the Juxkopfturm, which is 18 meters high, offers a view of the Swabian-Franconian forest mountains. It also falls in the valleys of Jagst , "Spiegelberger" Lauter , Neckar and Rems . You can also see the Stromberg ( 477.3  m ) in the west and the northern Black Forest in the southwest. To the east, in the Mainhardt Forest, you can see the Großerlach telecommunications tower on the Hohen Brach ( 586.9  m ; highest elevation in the Swabian-Franconian Forest). In the southeast you can see the Hagberg ( 586.9  m ) with the Hagberg tower . Looking south-south-west to south-east you can see the Swabian Alb .
