Vladimir von Pavlovsky

Wladimir von Pawlowski (born August 29, 1891 in Spittal an der Drau , † January 7, 1961 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian lawyer and Gauleiter of Carinthia .

Von Pawlowski was the descendant of a Polish noble family who emigrated to Carinthia in the 19th century. His father was district captain in Spittal an der Drau . After studying law, he became a lawyer in the Carinthian state government, which suspended him from service for political reasons in 1935. In July 1936 he joined the SS, which was banned in Austria, and became Gauleiter of Carinthia after Austria was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 . In the meantime replaced by Hubert Klausner , he was again in 1939–1941. In 1951 he was sentenced to five years in prison in Graz and died in Klagenfurt in 1961 after his release from prison.
