Arnold Sucher (born March 10, 1898 in Klagenfurt , † April 30, 1983 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician and from 1936 to 1938 Governor of Carinthia .

Arnold Sucher attended high school in Klagenfurt. During the First World War he was enlisted in the Carinthian Infantry Regiment No. 7, which he left in 1919 as a lieutenant with the silver medal for bravery, 1st class. Then he studied law in Graz. In 1921 he finished his studies. From 1926 he was a judge in Villach , from 1929 district judge in Klagenfurt.

In November 1933, Sucher became regional leader of the Fatherland Front , in 1934 he was appointed regional governor of Carinthia by Ludwig Hülgerth (corresponds to today's deputy governor). When Hülgerth became Vice Chancellor of the Federal Government in 1936, Sucher succeeded him on November 3rd, only 38 years old, to the post of Governor of Carinthia. He held this position until March 11, 1938 , when he was replaced by the National Socialist Vladimir von Pawlowski in the course of the Anschluss .

After a short imprisonment, Sucher spent the time of National Socialism in Vienna as a trainee in a law firm. After the Second World War, Sucher participated in the development of the Viennese judicial system. From 1963 to 1966 he was Vice President, from 1966 to 1968 President of the Higher Regional Court of Vienna.

He was a member of the Catholic student union AV Austria Graz.
