Surname

Wodan - Timburcoaster in motion

The roller coaster was named after the Germanic name of the Norse god Odin . The name Timburcoaster is made up of the Icelandic word timbur for wood and the English word coaster, short for roller coaster for roller coaster, and thus translates as wooden roller coaster .

Theming of the waiting area

Nordic mythology was chosen to design the waiting area for the wooden roller coaster .

A large entrance gate was built at the beginning of the waiting area, which is flanked on both sides by two Vikings. After going through the gate, you come to the Viking village of Midgard .

In addition to the normal waiting area, there is the possibility of queuing in the single rider queue.

The queue goes through five different areas of Norse mythology. First you get to Yggdrasil , the world tree that embodies the entire cosmos. On the further way you come to Schwarzalbenheim , the underground dwarf kingdom. This section is designed like a mine where gold and precious stones are mined. The next station leads to the realm of the goddess Hel . Hel is half dead and half alive. The hourglass is in her right hand as a sign of this. The path continues through the Midgardschlangentor to Niflheim , an icy world in the north that is inhabited by frost and frost giants. When one has left this place behind, one reaches the exact opposite of Niflheim, Muspellsheim . This is the fire kingdom in the south, inhabited by fire giants and ruled by their leader Surt . Next you encounter Nidhöggr , a snake-like dragon who lives on the world tree Yggdrasil and torments the dead. In the last scene, the giant Mimir guards the spring of Mimir , which lies at the foot of Yggdrasil. In order to gain powers of vision, Wodan gave an eye as a pledge to be able to drink from Mimir's well.

Then the rainbow bridge Bifröst leads from Midgard up to Asgard , where the Valhalla is located. Valhalla is a resting place for those who died in battle. This is the boarding station for Wodan - Timburcoaster .

construction

Up to 26 carpenters were involved in the construction; the construction time was planned to be nine months.

The track was built in the Icelandic themed area on an area of 1.6 hectares. Around 1,000 cubic meters of pine wood , which was assembled on site, was used to build the wooden roller coaster . In the complete construction there are a total of around 21,000 beams, which are held together by around 1.6 million nails.
