history

The first documentary mention is from 1288, when a Konrad von Lüchau handed over the tithe from Woja to the Egerer Klarakloster . Niklas von Kotzau owned the entire village from 1390. In 1789 a chapel dedicated to St. Catherine was mentioned in a document, the location of which is unknown today. Later it was tied to the community of Wurlitz, with which Woja was incorporated into the town of Rehau on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
