Wolf Neumeister

Wolf Neumeister (born May 10, 1897 in Dresden , † August 12, 1984 in Munich ) was a German screenwriter .

Life

After studying German in Dresden and Hamburg , he received engagements as a theater director and dramaturge in both cities and at the Bremen Theater from 1923 . He was a co-founder of the Städtebundtheater in Neuss , where he was senior director in 1925/26.

In 1926/27 he worked at the Koblenz Theater , then in Stuttgart , Oldenburg , Munich and Berlin . He also wrote articles for newspapers and magazines and was a spokesman for the Reichssender Berlin. From 1934 he delivered scripts for film comedies , later also for propaganda films .

After the war, Neumeister initially worked for DEFA , and from 1949 wrote for German producers. Numerous harmless comedies and love films flowed from his pen, as they were characteristic of the German film of the 1950s and early 1960s, later referred to as "Grandpa's Cinema". For a long time he was second chairman of the Association of German Film Authors.
