Wolf Wiedmann-Schmidt
Wolf Wiedmann-Schmidt , born Wolfgang Schmidt , (* 1979 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German journalist and book author .
He studied political science and linguistics in Berlin , Tübingen and Uppsala and graduated from the German School of Journalism . Wiedmann-Schmidt is (as of April 2020) team leader in the capital city office of the news magazine Der Spiegel . Before that, he worked in the investigative department of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit and as an editor for internal security at the Berlin daily newspaper taz . His focus areas are right-wing extremism , Islamism , terrorism and crime . In addition to the taz , Wiedmann-Schmidt wrote for the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) , Neon , Das Parlament and Cicero, among others . For research on the Ibiza affair , he and other journalists involved were awarded the German Reporter Prize in 2019 and the Nannen Prize in 2020 . In 2009, 2010 and 2017 he was nominated for the German Reporter Award. 2019 he was with Britta Stuff for a report about two victims of the Berlin Breitscheidplatz for Egon Erwin Kisch priced at s nominated. In 2014 he was on the shortlist for the Henri Nannen Prize for his portrait of the right-wing extremist terrorist Beate Zschäpe .
