Wolf von Schierbrand
Wolf Reinhold von Schierbrand (* 4. October 1851 in Dresden , † 1920 ) was a from Saxony -derived American journalist and author . He was the first in 1898 for the Associated Press in Germany active correspondent .
Life
Wolf von Schierbrand was a son of the royal Saxon building officer Reinhold Curt von Schierbrand (1816–1857) and his wife Luise, born in Greifenberg in Pomerania . Bird. The royal Dutch Lieutenant General Wolf Curt von Schierbrand was an uncle of his.
After completing his school education, he studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg as well as at the University of Leipzig and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. In 1872 he emigrated to the United States of America , where he worked as a language teacher until 1876 and as a class teacher at Elie Charlier's private school in New York from 1876 to 1877 .
From 1877 to 1901 he worked as a journalist and magazine author. In 1894 he became a correspondent for the New York Evening Post in New York and in 1898 was the first correspondent working for the Associated Press in Germany. After 1901 he was mainly active as an author and also wrote articles for various newspapers and magazines .
