Wolfgang Capek (* 1956 in Vienna ) is an Austrian organist .

Life

Wolfgang Capek completed his studies at the Vienna Music Academy in the subjects of organ (with Herbert Tachezi ), piano (with Hans Kann and Hilde Langer-Rühl ), composition and church music , which he won between 1978 and 1980 with several awards, competition prizes in piano (" Jugend musiziert ") and organ (1975 and 1979" ARD - Competition Munich ") and the award. In addition, he conducted further studies with Louis Robilliard in Lyon . From 1974 to 1983 he worked as an organist at the Schubert Church in Vienna - Lichtental . Since 1983 he has been the titular organist of the Marienkirche in Vienna- Hernals , where he has also been the director of the local choir and orchestra community since 2005. Since September 2008 he has been increasingly involved in the Vienna Augustinian Church and has been its main organist since September 1, 2009.

In 1981 Wolfgang Capek was appointed to teach at the Vienna University of Music , where he has taught piano, practical piano subjects and the organ ever since. In 1987 he was awarded the title of Magister artium after a study of French symphonic organ music .

Compositions for piano, organ and choir as well as arrangements of piano and orchestral works for organ round off his artistic activity as well as numerous radio , record and CD recordings. Concerts have taken him to almost every country in Europe as well as to Hong Kong , South Korea , the USA and Russia ; In addition, as a soloist, he can refer to collaborations with major domestic and foreign orchestras and ensembles.
