Wolfgang Hau

Wolfgang Hau, full name: Wolfgang Jakob Hau-Faymonville , (born August 21, 1968 in Dillingen / Saar ) is a German legal scholar . He has held the chair for civil law and German, international and comparative civil procedure law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 2017 .

Life

Hau was born in 1968 in Dillingen / Saar . He studied from 1988 to 1990 at the Saarland University , from 1991 to 1991 at the University of Wales ( Diploma in Legal Studies , Cardiff 1992) and from 1990 to 1994 at the University of Trier law . In 1994 he graduated with the first state examination.

In 1995 he received his doctorate at the University of Trier ( dissertation on positive conflicts of competence in international civil procedural law (1996)) . After the second state examination in 1997, Hau worked for Rogers & Wells as a lawyer in Trier and Paris ; he also worked as a research assistant until 2003 , and since 1998 as a research assistant at the University of Trier. In 2002 he completed his habilitation at the University of Trier with Walter F. Lindacher (habilitation thesis contract adjustment and adjustment contract (2003)) ; venia legendi for civil law , procedural law , international private law and comparative law . In 2003 he received a call to the Department of Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law and Private International Law at the University of Passau to succeed Hans-Joachim Musielaks .

From 2008 to 2010 Hau was Dean of the Law Faculty and from 2010 to 2014 Vice President of the University of Passau.

After rejecting calls to the Universities of Bayreuth (2009) and Saarbrücken (2011), Hau followed the call to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2017. Since 2016 he has also been a judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court (25th civil senate) in the second main office .
