Wolfgang Hessler

Wolfgang Hessler (born January 23, 1907 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 17, 1991 in Hamburg ) was a German actor , director and radio play speaker .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Berlin, Hessler took acting lessons from Jakobi, general manager Hans Schlenck and chamber actress Magda Lena in Munich. In 1934 he passed his acting examination there. In the same year he made his stage debut as "Editor Pedersen" in a production of Hjalmar Bergman's Nobel Prize in Augsburg. This was followed by engagements in Augsburg, Munich, Regensburg, Memel, Wilhelmshaven, Braunschweig, at the Hamburger Kammerspiele , in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt and Flensburg.

During his stage career, Hessler played numerous classic roles such as "Ferdinand" from Schiller's Cabal and Love , "Iago" in Shakespeare's Othello , "Geßler" in Schiller's Wilhelm Tell and "Mephisto" in Goethe's Faust . He also appeared as a director in various productions , including Thornton Wilder's Our Little City , Schiller's Cabal and Love , Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot , Gerhart Hauptmann's Ratten and Max Halbe Strom .

Occasionally, Hessler also took on roles in film and television productions, including the NDR series Percy Stuart , Hamburg Transit and The Fall from Next Door . In addition, Hessler was also active as a speaker for radio and radio plays.
