Wolfgang Kühlwein

Wolfgang Kühlwein (* 20th April 1940 in Nürnberg ) is a German Anglist , linguist and retired university professor .

Life

After high school at the Fürther Oberrealschule studied Kühlwein 1959-1962 English Studies , German Studies , Slavic Studies and last two semesters of Law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1962 he became a member of the Corps Onoldia . 1963/64 he was a lecturer at the University of Manchester . After taking the first state examination in English and German in Erlangen in 1964, he went to Kiel for five years , initially as a research assistant at the English seminar at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . There he was in 1966 summa cum laude for Dr. phil. PhD . Even then he turned to computational linguistics . From 1967 he was a lecturer at the University of Education in Kiel. In 1969 he went as a senior assistant at the University of Stuttgart , where he in 1970 for English Philology habilitated . In the same year he followed the call of the University of Trier - Kaiserslautern to the chair for English Philology in Trier. In 1970/71 he was dean of his faculty and from 1970 to 1972 deputy head of the University of Trier-Kaiserslautern. From 1989 to 1992 he took part in the Mandatory Chinese program for foreign language training during studies, which he graduated with honors. In addition to English, Kühlwein's main areas of work are theoretical linguistics , historical linguistics , contrastive linguistics , semantics , lexicology and sociosemiotics . He held visiting professorships in Luxembourg from 1971 to 2015, China , Indonesia , Ireland , Poland , South America , East Asia , the Pacific region and the USA . Frequently evaluated He Bachelor - and Master -Studiengänge of universities in Scandinavia and in the Baltic States . He retired on September 30, 2005.
