Life

Krause started his career at the age of seven in the junior division of SG Leipzig-Leutzsch , which was newly founded after the end of the war and which was renamed BSG Chemie Leipzig in 1950 . After the dissolution of BSG Chemie in 1954, "Wolfer" moved with almost the entire youth district selection to the "successor club" SC Lokomotive Leipzig , where he made the leap into the first team in 1959.

When players were assigned to one of the two Leipzig clubs in 1963 , Krause was delegated to the revived BSG Chemie Leipzig. The so-called "Rest of Leipzig" surprisingly won the GDR football championship in the 1963/64 season , with "Wolfer" being used in 19 of the 26 point games. Two years later he also won the FDGB Cup with the chemists .

At the end of the 1969/70 season , Krause withdrew from the first team and then played one more season in the second team of BSG Chemie. After the end of his active career, he worked as the team leader of the first team until 1980 and then worked as a project engineer at VEB Elguwa Leipzig, a sponsoring company of BSG Chemie.

He is led with 145 GDR league games (1 goal), as well as 6 EC appearances for the BSG chemistry.

After he and his wife Gerda visited her brother in Düsseldorf in 1988, the Krause couple did not return to the GDR and settled in Waldbronn- Langensteinbach. There and in neighboring Heidelberg , Wolfgang Krause worked in facility management for a hospital company until he retired in 2003 .

Krause also worked as a youth coach at TSV Reichenbach, where he coached the young Markus Schroth , who later played as a professional for his home club Karlsruher SC as well as TSV 1860 Munich and 1. FC Nürnberg .
