Wolfgang Luisser (born August 31, 1979 ) is a former Austrian football player and now coach .

Career

As a player

Luisser played in the BNZ Burgenland until 1997 . For the 1997/98 season he moved to SV Güssing . For the 1998/99 season he joined the Bundesliga club Grazer AK , for which, however, he did not play a game. He then moved to the regional division TSV Hartberg for the 1999/2000 season .

After a season with Hartberg, he joined the second division club SV Mattersburg in the summer of 2000 . He made his debut for Mattersburg in the second division in July 2000 when he was in the starting line-up against SC Untersiebenbrunn on the first day of the 2000/01 season and was replaced by Martin Ivanschitz in the 81st minute . By the end of the season, Luisser had played 28 second division games for Mattersburg, in which he remained without a goal.

After a year at Mattersburg, he returned to Güssing in 2001. In the 2002/03 season he played for the regional division SV Oberwart , for which he was used in 27 games in the Regionalliga Ost .

As a trainer

Luisser trained the U-19 team of the Grazer AK Academy in the 2007/08 season . From November 2009 he worked as a trainer in the academy of FC Red Bull Salzburg , initially with the U-15 team and from 2010 with the U-16 team.

For the 2011/12 season he moved to the second division club SV Grödig and became assistant coach of their amateurs. From the 2012/13 season he also acted as an individual trainer for the professionals from Grödig, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2013.

After the 2013/14 season, Luisser left Grödig and became assistant coach to Werner Gregoritsch in the Austrian U-21 team . From the 2017/18 season he was Thomas Letsch's assistant coach at the German second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue , but also kept his post as assistant coach of Austria's U-21 team. After Aue separated from Letsch in August 2017, Luisser resigned as an assistant coach and left the club.

In January 2018, he finally left the Austrian U-21 team and became Klaus Schmidt's assistant coach at Bundesliga club SCR Altach . After separating from Schmidt, he remained assistant coach under the new coach Werner Grabherr . After the Altacher parted company with Grabherr in March 2019, he took over the post of head coach at Altach on an interim basis. After two games as a coach, he was replaced by Alex Pastoor and became assistant coach again. At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Luisser was no longer an assistant coach because he was taking a one-year educational leave.

For the 2020/21 season he became Gerhard Struber's assistant coach at the English second division club FC Barnsley .
