Wolfgang Marguerre (* 1941 in Heidelberg ) is a German entrepreneur and patron . Together with Robert Taub, he is the founder, since 1995 the sole owner and CEO of the blood plasma fractionation company Octapharma AG in Switzerland.

biography

Marguerre was born in 1941 as the son of Fritz Marguerre in Heidelberg, where he grew up and went to school. He then studied politics and economics in his hometown. In 1972 he obtained an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau . After working at Pharmaplast in Copenhagen , he became director of Baxter- Travenol Europe in Brussels and until 1983 manager of the Revlon Healthcare Group in Paris . In the same year he founded his own company, Octapharma, which launched its first own product two years later. Marguerre is married and has three children. His sons Frederic and Tobias are also in the management of Octapharma.

Marguerre's company came under fire in 2015 as part of its involvement in the refugee crisis for allegedly paying the former Portuguese Prime Minister José Sócrates an advisory fee in 2013. The socialist was investigated for tax evasion, money laundering and corruption. The clarification of the facts by the Portuguese judiciary turned out to be difficult as a result.
