Wolfgang Meckelburg

Wolfgang Meckelburg (born August 25, 1949 in Hilden ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1968, Meckelburg studied German and English at the Ruhr University in Bochum , which he completed in 1973 with the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools. After his legal clerkship , he also passed the second state examination in 1977 and has since worked as a teacher , most recently as a senior teacher at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Marl .

Wolfgang Meckelburg has been married since 1981.

Political party

Meckelburg joined the CDU and the Young Union (JU) in 1973 and was chairman of the Gelsenkirchen JU district association from 1977 to 1982 . Since 1986 he has been a member of the board of the CDU district association Ruhr , from 1987 as chairman of the CDU district association Gelsenkirchen. In 2009 he resigned from both offices and was elected honorary chairman of the CDU district association.

Meckelburg was a member of the Gelsenkirchen City Council from 1975 to 1991 and of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Assembly from 1984 to 1990 .

Meckelburg was a member of the Bundestag for the first time from 1990 to 1994. On May 2, 1995, he moved again to the Bundestag for Claire Marienfeld, who had been elected as military commissioner . From 1998 to 2002 he was chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the committee for labor and social affairs.

He was unable to win a mandate in the 2009 Bundestag election.

Wolfgang Meckelburg has always entered the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia .
